Because of grants that we received in the last 6 months, SOCA-FBC has been able to help more homeless pets in Fort Bend County.
Last fall, Houston PetSet gave us money to support a “bottle baby” program for newborn puppies and kittens at area shelters. We’ve been able to put more newborns in foster homes that help them survive and thrive, and to prepare them for adoption.
Petco Foundation recently gave us a grant that underwrites free/discounted adoption fees, and that helps fund special needs pets’ medical and behavioral training needs – getting special needs pets ready for adoption and helping them get adopted.
In March, Petfinder Foundation, in conjunction with Nestle Purina, gave us a grant to support our effort to find homes for harder-to-place animals.
In January, Maddie’s Fund awarded SOCA the Engaging the Public Innovation Grant to promote adoptions for harder-to-place pets. Look for table cards with information and photos of adoptable dogs and cats when you visit area restaurants, stores, and other establishments.
